The Sevens Day Three

Day Three. As I was not willing to pay approx. 80€ I only got to see the games from the outside.
Today people actually seemed to go there for the games themselves and not just for the drinking and socializing part (were they still all too hungover from last night?)

The Sevens Day Two - after the games

Saturday night was even crazier than Friday. More people, and many of them dressed up. Here some of the pictures I took in both Lan Kwai Fong and Wan Chai. I witnessed this carneval-like event together with Lukas whom I studied with in Haikou. He's been living in Hong Kong for a while now and was just as stunned by the colourful madness as me.

Umpira

Yesterday I met up with Umpira (Manyu), a Thai girl i met in Haikou two years ago - you might still remember her from my older pictures. Working for a Thai company, she came to Hong Kong for work. What a great timing! (in the pictures: Manyu (twice) and her friend from work)

Chatting, drinking, dancing in Lan Kwai Fong.
Good times!

The Sevens Day One

Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, THE Rugby Event of the year, apparently. A reason for countless Brits and Aussies to fly into Hong Kong for the weekend. Here are some pictures we took in the Hong Kong Stadium on day one of the games (friday), the most quiet day, where i was lucky enough to get in for free.
It seems as if this event is more an occasion for socializing than for watching the guys play. Plus, it's all about drinking beer (da war die alkoholfreie EM Euro 2008 ja richtig revolutionär nüchtern dagegen!), having a good time in the stadium and then heading towards one of the areas with an abundant night life like Lan Kwai Fong, Wan Chai,...
The three day event was about to begin!

Lan Kwai Fong on Thursday

I'm staying with Bianca, a friend of my honduran friend/exchange sister Michelle. We took these pictures on our first night out - in Lan Kwai Fong. It was packed (with foreigners), due to the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens. And compared to the days to follow, this was still harmless...
